Set in a secret courtyard filled with centenial palm trees, citrus trees, bougainvillae and a beautiful swimming pool, this riad is one of the latest historic palaces of the medina. The charm of the riad lies in its eccentric décor and garden, unfinished and somehow bohemian chic style.
The property was built by the Kabbaj family at the end of the XIXth century but fell into multi-occupancy and decadence in the 1960s after the death of its owner. It has been renovated mixing European style and Oriental inspiration with utmost respect for its architectural integrity and furnished with Moroccan rugs and artefacts as well as Art-Deco style furniture and ornament.
The riad has 8 guest rooms (of which one is a single), each different but all furnished in a French colonial/Moroccan style, equipped with ensuite bathroom and A/C. Most of them have a cosy chimney. The property has two wings - a Summer house and a Winter house where the rooms are located. There are large terraces in each wing overlooking the vast garden and pool.
Do not expect five-star service, but the staff is more than friendly. The cuisine is prepared by a Fassi (from Fèz) cook and is simply excellent. The riad is the perfect place for a short or long stay in Marrakech with friends and family.
