Dar 91 is a private and self-contained house with its own roof terraces, in the picturesque old town of Essaouira. The house is located in the Chbanat district near Bab Doukkala. Bakeries, grocery shops and barrows laden with seasonal fruit are on your doorstep. The beach and harbour are within an easy stroll.
Dar 91 is light, airy and comfortable. It occupies the front half of what was once a police watchtower. The decor fuses old and new Moroccan and European styles, but without being slavish to any particular ‘look’ or period.
The main bedroom and its bathroom are on the first floor; the living room, kitchen and dining area occupy the second; and a further bedroom and bathroom make up the third floor – which also has a small terrace. From here, wooden stairs lead up to a larger terrace with uninterrupted views across the medina and to the sea.
No phone, no internet, no TV... Dar 91 is designed to immerse yourself in a different culture. Prices are as follow : 60 € per night per couple, additional adults 30 € each, children under 5 free, children 5 to 16 years old pay 11 € each.
The owners give a minimum of 10% of their profits to local causes they believe in. They focus particularly on sponsoring children through school or their families, micro-loans...
