3 European destinations for a trendy brunch

Brunching in the trendiest restaurant of the moment with family or friends on the weekend has become part of a lot of people’s routines as opposed to just a trend. The magic behind this movement is the luxury of being able to make the most of the Sunday morning lie in and then creating new memories with loved ones over dishes which tickle your fancy, whether sweet or savoury, anything is appropriate for a brunch. Villanovo has travelled Europe to discover the best places to enjoy a tasty brunch in.

Scorpio's, Mykonos

Scorpio's, Mykonos

This summer, why not combine a delicious brunch with a beach holiday in one of Greece’s elitist island of Mykonos? Nothing compares to a boho-luxury holiday with your loved ones in a little corner of paradise in Europe. Contrary to popular beliefs, Mykonos is not solely for partying all night long and dancing at beach clubs during the day. This beautiful island is also the perfect place to relax: with beautiful beaches and a delightful climate, one will enjoy spending a quiet afternoon on a sunlounger by the private swimming pool of their rented villa, reading their favourite novel or taking a siesta in the shade. While in Mykonos, brunching at Scorpio’s is a must. With a wooden and boho decor, this exclusive place located just a short drive away from Mykonos town and airport is more than a restaurant. For early risers, Scorpio’s offers mind and body focus activities including yoga and meditation, followed by a fresh swim in the azure Aegean Sea.

For a relaxing and excellent brunch with your loved ones, Chef Alexis Zopas is willing to push the boundaries and create some of the finest dishes of Europe. His menu at Scorpio’s is based on Mediterranean recipes with a touch of orientalism to spice things up. All of the ingredients used are fresh and regional, to ensure exquisite savours in the simple but refined dishes on offer. For those who aren’t afraid of an explosion of flavours, Villanovo recommends the seafood ceviche with chili and coriander oil for a meal you will not soon forget!

Fauna & Flora, Lisbon

Fauna & Flora, Lisbon

With the return of sunny days looming, why not escape to the white city of Portugal, Lisbon? This beautiful and dynamic city is ideal for a weekend getaway with friends and family and it will be sure to leave you wanting more. With such a fascinating history which has led to impressive architecture remaining in the city nowadays, Lisbon will charm those history lovers and those with a passion for photography, as every corner of this mysterious city is worth a picture and much more. Despite being the capital of Portugal, Lisbon does not possess the chaos of major cities such as New York or London, on the contrary, the narrow and colourful cobbled streets are rather serene and are ideal for those in search of a complete change of scenery.

To complete the harmonious and relaxing atmosphere of a trip to Lisbon, Villanovo recommends brunching at Fauna & Flora, which, as its name suggests, is a nature-friendly restaurant which provides wholesome dishes based on fresh and healthy ingredients. This place is as natural on the inside as it is on the outside: the outdoor surfaces are covered in green leaves and there are potted plants hanging from the ceiling inside, to enhance the organic ambiance. Fauna & Flora serves all day brunch which includes freshly-made smoothies and a wide choice of exquisite dishes. A particular mention has to be made about the pancakes which practically melt in one’s mouth. The perk of this convivial restaurant is its affordability as well as the options of gluten-free as well as vegetarian options.
