Discover the 3 most beautiful beaches of Corsica

Corsica, a beautiful French island off the coasts of France and Italy attracts just over 3 million visitors annually due to its incomparable charm. Despite belonging to France since 1768, Corsica has retained some of its italian influences to create the perfect blend of both cultures and traditions. The natural wonders of the island are important to note as they play a significant part in Corsica’s appeal. In fact, almost half of the island has been classified as a natural park, which is home to fantastic hikes. This classified territory includes some of the most natural and pure beaches one has ever seen. Villanovo has travelled the island to find the 3 most beautiful beaches for you!

Palombaggia

Palombaggia

Palombaggia is unarguably the most mythical beach in Corsica and has been named the most beautiful beach of France and was in the top 10 most beautiful beaches in Europe. Located 12 kilometres away from the trendy city of Porto-Vecchio which equals a 15 minute drive on a gorgeous road amongst pine trees, its 2 kilometres of white sand and crystal clear water attracts a large number of visitors who want to see the beauty of the beach for themselves. As it is a protected natural site, it is regularly cleaned meaning that the influx of visitors in Palombaggia does not affect its cleanliness. Let yourself be charmed by the purity of the beach, with its verdant pine trees, pink rocks and transparent water which are ideal for snorkeling. There are various other facilities on the beach including charming beach restaurants serving fresh seafood as well as watersports clubs, ideal for children who would like to try jetskiing, paddle or a buoy ride.

Rondinara

Still in Southern Corsica, equidistant from both Porto-Vecchio and Bonifacio, 18 kilometres away. The beautiful Bay of Rondinara, located in a protected natural reserve, is a true haven of peace which is less busy than Palombaggia due to its remote location. With the extraordinary shape of a shell, which shelters the bay from wind making it fantastic water to bathe in peacefully, it has been sharing the first prize for the ongoing competition for the most beautiful beach of Corsica, and regularly appears amongst the most beautiful beaches of Europe. For those searching for a pure environment to enjoy a moment of relaxation, Rondinara is the one for you. Visitors are able to taste the exquisite Corsican gastronomy at the only beach restaurant of the bay, where visitors can also rent paddle boards, kayaks and pedalos to explore more of the bay.

Saleccia

The 3rd most beautiful beach of Corsica, Saleccia beach, is located in the North of the island within vicinity of the renowned and stunning Agriates Desert. Saleccia is 1200 metres of white, warm sand with water as clear as the Caribbean very near the Punta di Curza, an extremity of the island. This isolated corner of paradise is hidden by a majestic pine tree forest, which explains the beach’s immaculateness as well as its difficulty to be reached. In fact, Saleccia is most easily by a boat, whether private or public. The most efficient way for those who do not wish to hire a boat is to embark on one at Saint-Florent which will drop you nearby. For those searching for real authenticity, the beach can be accessed by horse-drawn carriage in 30 minutes, a trip which will delight children!
