1) Brienz Lake

Located in the Burnese Alps, at an altitude of 564 metres above sea level, sits the turquoise waters of Brienz Lake. Above it, the small village of Iseltwald overlooks this magical lagoon. This fishing village of 420 inhabitants is located on the bank's left-side and is one of the prettiest small hamlets in Berne. The blue-green waters against the beautiful little houses make it a pure sight for sore eyes. Brienz Lake is known as one of the most romantic places to spend a holiday in Switzerland thanks to its magnificent shades of colours and the breathtaking surrounding mountain peaks, waterfalls and cliffs. A boat cruises along its 28.9 square km and stops at various ports of call for visitors to explore the magnificent surroundings and quaint Bernese villages.

2) Leman Lake

One of the largest lakes in Western Europe, Leman Lake lies along the Rhone and is bordering and shared with France. Both countries share it for both yacht racing and annual rowing events, and during the warmer months, it's a fantastic place for paddling, sailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, and diving! The lake's waters are crystal-clear and glisten in the sunshine-- calm and shimmering like a fish's squama. It boasts 72 km of longitude and 13 km of width from the middle and is 310 metres deep.  This marvellous lake dominates Geneva and contains one of Switzerland's most important symbols-- the Jet d'Eay- a 140-metres-high fountain and one of the greatest worldwide.

3) Oschinensee

3) Oschinensee

Oschinensee is a spectacular lake located in the Berner Oberland region of Bern, at 1,578 metres above sea level. This dreamlike landscape is nothing short of breathtaking and is listed as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn. The best views can be admired from a gondola ride setting off from Kandersteg. Yet a walk along its marvellous surroundings will not disappoint. One can contemplate its passing waterfalls, alpine valleys, and melting valleys along the way through its various hiking trails. Given its large trout population, when the lake completely freezes during the winter, people love to seize the opportunity and enjoy some ice fishing.

4) Lake Lucerne

Located in the heart of the Bernese Oberland, Lake Lucerne is the fourth largest lake and the most photographed in Switzerland. This beautiful natural masterpiece stretches into the Swiss Alps and was formed 12,000 years ago. Nestled by the lovely mountains of Mount Rigi and Mount Pilate, you can bask in its natural beauty from every perspective and angle, whether you're strolling through its coastal towns such as Weggis and Gersay, hovering on a cable car, or sailing on a rental boat.

5) Seebergsee

Seebergsee is, once again, another beautiful Bernese lake. Given its dimensions, it resembles more like a pond rather than a lake. Yet this natural wonder has no shortage of fun due to its array of nearby cycling, orientation and hiking trails which attract outdoor enthusiasts galore. One can enjoy its stunning panoramic views from a nice picnic spot near the bank or taking a pleasant walk around it.

6) Lake Thunersee

Located at an altitude of 558 metres above sea level in the Berner Oberland, this alpine lake was created during the last glacial period between 115,000 and 11,700 years ago. It is famous for its crystal-clear waters that reflect the stunning surrounding mountains. The shoreline is home to some quaint fishing villages and 12 beautiful churches worth visiting, not to mention its numerous hiking and orientation trails for outdoor lovers. Once you're here, don't forget to visit the medieval Old Town of Thun, where you'll admire a beautiful grand castle.
