With its timeless villages of quiet cobbled streets, wild, windswept beaches and picturesque salt marshes, the infinitely charming Ile de Ré is the island jewel of the Charente Maritime. From Les Portes-en-Ré to Sainte Marie-de-Ré, Villanovo has selected the finest luxury properties, including many villas in Île de Ré with swimming pools, and traditional cottages for you to enjoy the family break you deserve.
Our handpicked properties have many of the features you have come to expect from a Villanovo property, including tasteful design, beautiful, well-kept gardens and outdoor dining areas, bright kitchens and intimate spaces for you and your loved ones to curl up and relax in after a day exploring the local markets and unspoilt beaches of the 'ile blanche'.
Meanwhile, if you want 'the good life' to become just a little bit better, then consider renting a luxury villa with a heated swimming pool. The Ile de Ré has plenty of places to swim along its swathes of unspoilt beaches, but if your preference is to visit out of season, you might find the Atlantic a little chilly for your liking. In which case, a villa with a heated pool might be just the thing.
We offer a selection of catered and self-catering villas, with a third option in which staff are provided for a one-off occasion also available. Contact our villa specialists today and let us help you find the property that matches your perfect holiday in the Ile de Ré.
This delightful island is home to some gorgeous traditional houses and luxury properties: from stylish designer villas to rustic homes and even converted windmills. Bordered by Pertuis Breton and Antioch and stretching over 30 kilometres, the 'ile blanche' offers wonderfully varied landscapes, which showcase some of the finest scenery in the West of France. With its unspoiled sandy beaches, sparse salt marshes and leafy forests, complemented by quaint villages and port towns like La Flotte, Sainte Marie-de-Ré, Ars-en-Ré and Les Portes-de-Ré, the unique charm of the Ile de Ré is apparent from the moment you arrive.
Take some time to wander through its quiet streets that wind around its quaint villages and breathe in the gentle ambience, explore the towns and villages and their bustling weekly markets, before making your leisurely way to see the boats at the harbour. Or why not hop on a bike and set off for a ride along the cycle paths and through the forest and past the marshes until you get to the bay? If you find yourself in Saint Clement des Baleines, don't miss the opportunity to visit the old lighthouse and experience the sparse beauty of its surroundings, or perhaps visit a vineyard and indulge in a little 'wine tourism'.
The Ile de Ré has no end of activities to enjoy. It is an ideal destination for adventurous outdoor holidays with the family: travel by bike over more than 100 kilometres of bike trails past vineyards and salt marshes, discover the bird sanctuary near the Portes-en-Ré, go fishing, or try kitesurfing (or just plain old surfing!), or even walk on water with the stand-up paddleboard, For thrill seekers, you can indulge in unusual experiences such as ULM flight or flyboard.
And after you have finished exploring the island? Well, head back to your holiday home, and enjoy a cosy evening with the family. The villas selected by Villanovo are chosen for their high quality and unique character. Many are spacious and offer a large number of rooms where bigger groups can stay, while there are plenty of quaint houses perfect for enjoying the family life too.
For a relatively small island, the Ile de Ré enjoys a number of first-rate venues in which to sample a local gastronomy rich in seafood, wine, local confits and honey. Among our favourites, you can find:
Ré Ostrea - A great spot overlooking the sea, accessible by a cycle path, and perfect for trying the local oysters.
L’Avant-Port - A first-class bistro. Head chef Jérôme Laporte specialises in the classics of French cuisine, with a predilection for seafood,
La Cabane du Fier - A former oyster shack with a terrace overlooking the marshes and Fier d’Ars, We recommend the Charentaise chowder.
La Tour du Sénéchal - Both a gourmet grocery shop and a restaurant, the brunch is worth a special mention.
La Cabane de la Patache - Offering a breathtaking view of the entrance to the Fier d’Ars alongside simple, no-frills cuisine made with quality local produce. Be sure to try the crepes for dessert.
La Bazenne - An institution among celebrity visitors to the Ile de Ré, with an excellent seafood offering.
Ilha Do Sal - Ilha Do Sal provides delicious Portuguese cuisine for those seeking a break from more typical French offerings
Le Balaou - a family-friendly atmosphere and some excellent local specialities await at this charming restaurant.

Perfect location for families with teens. Everything is a short bike ride away. Wonderful beach. Great ice cream at Le Phare, Saint-Clément-des-Baleines. Loved the Ars-en-Ré market
The chef Jean Marie Montelus, surf lessons at Surf'in Ré, and biking with Beach Bikes were a ton of fun.
