Where are people planning to holiday when lockdown ends?

As the weeks tick over in lockdown, we draw nearer to the end of isolation at home and will eventually regain our freedom. While it isn’t known when that might be, we do know that we are getting closer to it. As we do all we can to get our travel fix, from movies to books or even drooling over travel inspiration on Instagram. Many wanderlusters aren’t stopping there, some are already seeking inspiration and looking to the future to see which incredible corner of the world they would like to explore next. But where exactly are they thinking of going?

Italy

Netflix accounts, bookshelves and indoor workouts are things we will likely want zero association with when everything begins to return to normality. Our memories of nights of laughing in wine bars with friends or romantic dinners with loved ones are somethings we crave to relive. So, a culturally rich Italian city should be on the top of your list of places to head to next. Picture sharing a freshly-cooked pizza on the bustling streets of Rome, listening to a local musician busking on the corner, as you talk above the murmur of the locals gossiping. Italy is the perfect destination to reconnect after a lengthy period of isolation.

Greece

Escaping reality has become not only useful but essential in current times. We utilise the fantastical stories from TV and books to live a magical life for an hour or two to avoid the stresses of today. That is one of the main reasons we enjoy adventures abroad, as we discover new cultures and sceneries from foreign lands. If you are on the search for a magical place rich in mysticism and history, Greece should be your go-to. Greek Mythology can enlight the minds of old and young alike and it makes for a brilliant trip for families. Those documentaries about the acropolis in Athens or the ancient amphitheatres in Crete can be explored in real life.

Switzerland

Switzerland

As the only daily escape from our homes at the moment is one form of exercise, many of us find ourselves activating our inner athlete. We may have fallen in love with walking or running, a love which will likely stick with us going forward. Many people researching their next adventure may not be looking to lie on the beach from morning to night. Instead, they may wish to take advantage of their newfound passion for activities such as hiking through the mountains of Switzerland. The Swiss Alps are ideal for long hiking days in the summer and thrilling skiing holidays in the winter.

Mauritius

As the warmer months roll in as summer approaches, our longing for the warm sun kissing our skin grows. You may have noticed neighbours hanging out of bedroom windows to reach every last sunray they can physically stretch out to. Flying to somewhere exotic may be the answer to compensate for the Vitamin D we have been missing out on. A tropical island like Mauritius is the ideal place as the turquoise waters and golden sandy beaches are likely to be appreciated more than ever as we all head back into the normal world again. Moreover, if you have been restricted from enjoying your hobbies due to the lockdown, Mauritius offers a variety of water activities from surfing to scuba diving. Something which is sure to be enjoyed amongst friends or family.

Ibiza

As our frustration grows with the never-ending confinement. Enjoying a spacious environment is a priority for people planning their next holiday. Many of us who have been residing in a city apartment yearn for somewhere spacious with open landscape. Therefore, an expansive island like Ibiza couldn’t be more ideal. Leave the city behind and enjoy the island life. A place you can enjoy a cocktail by the beach, tapas on a cliff edge, or simply some quality time to catch up with everyone in a villa of your dreams, like Villa Paraiso.
