An authentic and unusual experience
If for you “traveling” rhymes with “new experiences”, in Luang Prabang you will find your happiness! With rituals and cultures very different from Western countries, you can indulge in more fascinating experiences than others. Among them, the meeting of the mendicant monks of Theravada Buddhism. The strongest and most traditional ritual is undoubtedly the one that takes place in the alleys of Luang Prabang, in the morning, at dawn. Believe us, the clock is worth it! The area is particularly famous for its Buddhist temples and monasteries which in addition to their beauty offer incomparable peace. We recommend the Temple of the Golden City, or Wat Sene.
Another must-have is the morning market. Indulge in a festival of colors and smells: tropical flowers, fruits, spices, fish, not to mention the local specialties. As for the evening time, we suggest you venture into a market a little more unusual, the "night market". Here you'll find local crafts ranging from small souvenir trinkets to local whiskey infused with snakes, scorpions or other creatures. For an even more participative experience, you can indulge in workshops and weaving courses.
Finally, the serenity of Luang Prabang will most likely encourage you to participate in one of the yoga sessions in a totally exotic setting. Indulge in activity at sunrise or at bedtime. To further relax your body and mind, you can try massages and herbal baths. We guarantee you relaxation and spirituality!
Like many Asian regions
, the Luang Prabang shelters natural wonders. Among them, waterfalls are a must. Embark on a getaway amidst Tad Kuang's cascades though, the highest and most impressive. There, you can also swim (or wash your elephant, as some locals do).
Another water point worth visiting is the famous Mekong River. Embark aboard a sampan, and admire the various treasures sheltered by the river. From this boat, venture into the Pak Caves, home to hundreds of Buddhas. We recommend you to indulge in the river during the sunset, for one of the best shows. But whether you are on the banks of the Mekong or on a dominant Nam Khan viewpoint, Luang Prabang offers twilights of exceptions.
