The Home

In summary

This lovely and typical stone villa in Essaouira is an attractive retreat for a holiday with family and friends. 
The architecture of the house is much like a Moroccan kasbah but the interiors have been designed and decorated in a contemporary style.


Bedrooms

The villa features two very large double bedrooms (bedroom 1 and 2) with queen size beds and ensuite bathrooms. One or two additional beds can be arranged for children (on the existing sofas) in each room.
Bedroom 3 has a queen size bed and ensuite bathroom.
Bedroom 4 has three single beds and is preferably suitable for children. Ensuite bathroom.


Indoors

On the garden level, the villa comprises a lounge, a dining room, kitchen and three bedrooms. Each of these rooms are overlooking a large central and covered courtyard flooded with light. The fourth bedroom is accessible through a staircase leading to the roof terrace and is therefore relatively independent from the rest of the villa.
The villa's running water and electricity are supplied by solar panels and a generator. The house equipment is of excellent quality: flat screen TV, DVD player, fully equipped kitchen, sound system for MP3 player, lounge chairs by the pool.


Outdoors

The villa is situated in a one-hectare garden and boasts a beautiful swimming pool of 16m x 6m. A vast pool house lounge and terrace is facing the pool and also features a kitchen area and a shower / WC. Beautiful and unobstructed view of the countryside of Essaouira and Argan trees.


Staff and services

The staff consists of a couple living in a small separate house behind the vegetable garden.

Note: domestic staff must be paid locally in cash.

Grands espaces, belle décoration.
Nous avons eu un très bon contact avec Mathilde de Villanovo qui nous a aidé à préparer notre séjour.
Qualité des sanitaires (tous les pommeaux de douches fuyaient)
Tapis - coussins pas très propres
Les repas étaient toujours servis fort tard malgré plusieurs demandes de manger plus tôt.

Wonderful service and food provided by Myriem and Ahmed. Every one of our large party from toddlers to grandparents was looked after royally. How Myriam manages to cook such fab food and clean the villa so beautifully is beyond us. The grounds are so well looked after too.

The villa is very relaxing, and guarantees an enjoyable holiday.
Ahmed and Miriame are fantastic, they work round the clock and the food that Miriame prepares is always excellent
The location is good, its a very quiet area, the drive to town is about 15 minutes, definitely worth renting a car.
The grounds of the villa are very well kept

The villa is a bit tired and could do with a number of repairs
A number of the bedrooms don't have any blinds, meaning the sun will wake you at about 5am, the upstairs en-suite doesn't have any blinds either and looks directly at Miriame and Ahmeds house, making the shower basically not usable
In a number of areas they are no lamp shades, just wires straight out the wall holding low energy bulbs.
The pool isn't heated as advertised, i have emailed the agent asking why it was advertised as heated, but they have ignored this question a number of times
The villa was very dirty when we arrived, but to be fair to the owner after we complained (about all the above) she did at least get the place properly cleaned.
The outside furniture is ridiculously bad, 5 years ago it would have been very smart, but over time has become very rusty, you wouldn't want to eat of it without a table cloth, sitting on the seats leaves rust on your clothes. When we mentioned this to the agent and the owner they denied that there were any problems with it, and said that we just had a problems with the style. I personally would not have outside furniture made of metal when its 30c most days, but this was not the complaint, the rust and the condition of it was, especially as the villa is advertised as having excellent equipment.
The villa has the potential to be excellent, but all the above is not good enough for what we paid for. Villanovo did respond to our complaints, but all they did was ring the owner, who then basically rang me and disagreed with everything i have said above, apart from the cleaning nothing else was done or even acknowledged. All contact to Villanovo regarding them taking some responsibility has been ignored. Shame really.
