Villa Samu

Only 2 hours from Colombo airport, 20 minutes from Hikaduwa and 30 minutes from Galle, Samu is a colonial beach villa, built at the turn of the last century. It has been fully renovated and is now a laid-back, luxury retreat where you can kick off your shoes and relax, a stone’s throw from the beach.

The front and back verandahs and interior courtyard, with its cooling reflecting pool, allow for seamless indoor/outdoor living. The traditional design ensures that a sea breeze flows though the house, keeping it at a comfortable temperature, whatever the season.

The villa is totally private and is looked after by Kingsley and his team. Breakfast is included in the price; other meals are prepared for you at market price. Guests who prefer to cook may take advantage of the separate, well-equipped sea view kitchen, which is stocked with a complimentary pantry of spices, condiments and base ingredients.


The villa comfortably sleeps 10 adults + 2 children on the day beds (in the king size suites) + an additional 2 children/nannies in the bunk room which is connected to the queen suite and also has separate access from the back porch.

Villa Samu is a walled and gated private property with 24-hour security and on-site staff. In addition to the bedrooms listed above we have:

> Large sitting room with 4m high ceilings, furnished with chandelier, twin sofas and three armchairs, and equipped with 40″ LCD TV with English satellite/cable channels, writing bureau, separate desk area with PC computer and iTunes music library with bluetooth speakers
> Dining room overlooking the pool with 10 to 12-seat dining table, drinks fridge and ensuite shower room
> Large front verandah with three relaxed seating areas
> Inner courtyard with reflecting pool with three relaxed seating areas
> Lawned back garden with seating area and hammock
> Covered back verandah with seating areas suitable for 4-6 people for lunch or afternoon tea
> BBQ area with charcoal BBQ grill
> External kitchen with full cooking facilities and larder area, fridge/freezer and drinks fridge

AMENITIES AND FACILITIES
Recreational equipment: picnic hamper and beach mats, beach games, 2 x sea kayaks, 2 x bikes (more can be arranged on request), body-surfing boards and fins, snorkelling equipment, 4 sets of scuba-diving equipment, scuba-diving compressor and 6 tanks (available for shore and boat diving, for qualified divers only). Life-jackets available for all activities.

Just select your daily menu and the staff will shop for provisions – all you pay is the cost of the ingredients at the market that morning. We will present a housekeeping account to you, either on a daily basis or at the end of your stay, according to your preference.

SELF CATERING
Villa guests may also opt to use the kitchen to prepare meals themselves. Villa staff will be on hand to assist with preparation if required. Guests may enjoy complimentary use of condiments, base ingredients and spices from the kitchen pantry. A list of stocked ingredients can be found on the kitchen wall.


Activities
Samu is a wonderfully relaxing place to hang out with friends and family. Ask us concerning the activities to do in or near the villa such as yoga, boat hire, beaches and surfing
