Middle Street

In summary

Middle Street is a 18th century merchants house, in Galle Fort, adjacent to the Amangalla Hotel. This unique property has been renovated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard and is probably the largest private house in Galle Fort– a UNESCO World Heritage. The present owner was adamant that the integrity of the original Dutch house should be preserved. As a result, the rooms are large and airy, with lofty ceilings, original teak windows and shutters and cool, terrazzo floors.

Room 1 - Main House :
Room. This bedroom has 1 double bed King size four poster bed. Bathroom ensuite, with walk-in shower. separate WC room. This bedroom includes also air conditioning, dressing room.

Room 2 - Annexe - Bedroom l :
Room, view of the garden, pool view. This bedroom has 1 double bed King size. Bathroom ensuite, with walk-in shower, 1 washbasin. WC in the bathroom. This bedroom includes also air conditioning, chest of drawers.

Room 3 - Annexe - Bedroom ll :
Room, view of the garden. This bedroom has 2 single beds configurable as a double bed. Bathroom ensuite, with bathtub, 1 washbasin. This bedroom includes also air conditioning, chest of drawers.

Room 4 - Garden cottage :
Room. This bedroom has 1 double bed Queen size four poster bed. Bathroom ensuite, with 2 washbasins, walk-in shower. This bedroom includes also air conditioning, chest of drawers.

Room 5 - Main House :
Room. This bedroom has 1 double bed King size four poster bed. Bathroom ensuite, with bathtub. WC in the bathroom. This bedroom includes also air conditioning, dressing room, private terrace.

Annexe: bedroom l and bedroom ll have an interconnecting door.


Indoors
 
Furnished with elegance and style, and offering sublime comfort and luxury, Middle Street is the perfect villa to rent, and from where you can explore the beautiful Southern coast of Sri Lanka.
There are numerous places to sit and relax – the elegant library or on the verandah overlooking the garden, or the loggia at the far end of the garden. Alternatively there is the games room with a snooker table and plasma screen, for those who need more entertainment.
The villa sleeps a maximum of 8 guests in 4 bedrooms, all air conditioned and with ensuite bathrooms.
All rooms have hair dryers and wall safes, and there is WiFi throughout the house.


Outdoors​ 

The house has extensive gardens - probably the largest of any other house in the Fort, and a swimming pool was installed recently as well as a sunbathing deck. So now there is little excuse to leave the house, except to do some sightseeing and shopping, all within the Fort!


Staff & Services

Villa is fully staffed with cook, houseboys and house manager. Janaka and Jayanath will look after your every wish during your stay. Preethi does the cooking, and she has a good range of Western and Sri Lankan dishes.
