The Most Beautiful Villages in France Straight out of a Fairytale

Conques is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful medieval villages in France, and a visit here will be a trip you'll never forget. It is also one of Santiago de Compostela's important stops on its pilgrimage route, making it a destination that draws countless visitors every year. Walking down its cobbled streets with surrounding walls covered in vegetation is a journey into the past. You can also marvel at its magnificent architecture from the 11th and 12th century, paying close attention to its distinctive roofs. Ultimately, wherever you may gaze at, there's a postcard-perfect image worthy of a photograph. Be sure to have enough battery on your phone or camera, because you won't resist snapping every corner of this beautiful village.

If you ever wanted to travel back in time and experience the quintessential medieval French village, then you ought to bookmark Pérouges for your next trip. This delightful quaint village located only a few kilometres away from Lyon, right in the heart of the Rhône-Alpes, was at the height of its fame during Medieval times-- given its booming textile and wine industries at the time. But what's truly special about this village, is the fact that it has stayed intact from modernity-- it's arguably one of those places where time has frozen, evoking its bygone times. You will instantly fall in love with its enchanting 15th and 16th-century homes. And don't miss the picturesque Place du Linden-- a famous 13th-century inn that is a true eye-catcher.

What's more, many famous film sets have been shot in this location-- such as "The Three Musketeers" and "Monsieur Vincent".

Saint-Verán is a heavenly fairytale village of under 300 inhabitants. Perched high up in the mountains at an altitude of over 2000 metres, this makes it one of the highest communities in all France. Surrounded by dramatic mountains and scenery, people have been drawn to its beautiful postcard-perfect sceneries and outdoor opportunities.
Even though the population is low, during ski season it swells up, attracting visitors from all over the world to enjoy its ski resorts.

People love hiking through Saint-Véran's myriad hiking routes in the summer. After an immersive day in nature, visitors can relax in a cosy medieval inn and eat a delicious meal.

Listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie has stolen numerous hearts.
It has also served as muse for countless artists throughout history-- such as Neoimpressionist painter Henri Martin and surrealist writer André Breton. And it's not so difficult to figure out why: beautiful winding cobbled streets heading to medieval ruins, dinstinctive small houses, beautiful rococó mansions, idyllic gardens, mysterious forests, and imposing castles. Its picturesque churches are also worth a visit, boasting remains of Romanesque frescoes.
