1) Glide through the marvellous desert and coastline in Andalusia: Almeria to Málaga

Desert. Villages. Craggy rocks. Mills. Mediterranean sea and attractive beaches. Cliffs. Bright blue skies. And vast stretches of olive groves. That's right. This marvellous route starting from Tabernas via A-7 in the desert of Almeria, taking then the N-340 in the village of Adra and continuing through Malaga is one of the most beautiful road trips you can experience in Andalusia. This enchanting road trip will give you a taste of the unique character of this remarkable region.

Setting off from the beautiful Almerian desert via the A-7 will transport you to the land of the Dothraki, from Game of Thrones-- the series in which they featured this region. Not to mention they also used it as filming location in movies such as Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Once Upon a Time in the West (1971), and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989).

Furthermore, if you want to enjoy the care-free sensation of the open road, windows down, music playing, the sunlight and the breeze through the open window while taking in the fresh air coming from the sea, then the Old coastal route of the N-340 is right for you. This road stretches along the Costa del Sol and provides a more relaxed and scenic journey as most traffic drives via the newly constructed fast motorway. Through the older road, you'll also experience cruising through marvellous ancient tunnels carved in stone.

Route: Tabernas A-7 to Adra N340 to Málaga

Time: Around 3 hours. A rest in Salobreña on the way makes for a good pit-stop, as one can get the chance of stretching their legs and visit the old town and castle which are beautifully perched on a lovely mountain.

Ideal for those: who aren't in a rush and like soaking up a variety of scenic views, from deserts, rugged mountains, to quaint villages and coastal landscapes.

2) Snake up breathtaking mountain roads in el Chorro

Escape the coastal area and traverse through the towering monumental craggy mountains of el Chorro. This marvellous area, situated in the heart of Malaga is ideal for those who like driving through smooth twists and turns while enveloped by beautiful nature and feelings of touching the bright blue sky. El Chorro is a famous road tripping area in Malaga, beautifully hugged by immense chasms, and nestling blue-green ponds and lakes. Its roads snake up the mountains. Some are very narrow and others wide-- which make for an adventurous drive.

If you fancy a stop along the way and explore the area, you can park near "el Caminito del Rey", which is one of the most attractive hiking routes in Malaga. Here, you'll get the chance to walk on the wooden paths that climb over the imposing mountain gorges which are more than 100 metres deep. Traversing this hiking route needs one's total concentration and skill. However, reaching the summit is well worth it-- which takes around an hour.

Route: MA-5403 and MA-448 from Ardales to El Chorro

Time: 30 - 45 minutes

Ideal for: Anyone who enjoys cruising through many twists and turns, majestic and imposing mountains. And love to contemplate the unremittingly beautiful bright blue sky.

3) Experience the numinous mountains and coastal roads from Santiago de Compostela to A Coruña

Taking a road trip from Santiago de Compostela to A Coruña is a sight to behold. Everywhere you look at gives you the impression of being in a land drenched in a numinous atmosphere. The beautiful landscapes will envelop you and make you want to stop often to soak up the views and take many photographs. Setting off from the northwesternmost part of Spain, bordering Portugal, you'll be gliding through beautiful lush green landscapes taking the E-1 road until reaching the last port of call in the seaside town of A Coruña. Also, if you enjoy surfing, A Coruña is the perfect place for you as it is a top destination for these water sport enthusiasts.
Along your journey, you can detour through some smaller routes which take you to explore the coves and deeply rural villages of the region.

Route: Santiago de Compostela to A Coruña taking the E-1 road

Time: 30- 45 minutes
