In Andalusia
Ronda, at the heart of the history of Andausia
In the heart of the mountains of the Serranía de Ronda that the village of Ronda is nestled, proudly among the white Andalusian villages, about a hundred kilometers from Malaga. Natural land steeped in history, do not miss the cultural richness of the village. Second home of the Queen of Spain Isabelle and King Ferdinand, the Mondragon Palace is a must in the village. Combining Moorish and Renaissance style, also nicknamed the Palace of the Marquis of Villasierra, it was built in 1314 and now houses the Municipal Museum of Ronda. After that, head to Plaza Duquesa de Parcent, which promises a wonderful walk in a most picturesque environment. Located in the province of Cadiz, Senetil de las Bodegas is a small white village, emblematic of the region. Its particularity ? Having sat on the edge of a huge rock, which dominates some of its small streets, to the point of replacing the roof of some houses. Some of these homes are even spread by the rock. This seamless urban-nature cohabitation brings a striking effect! It is possible to find some shade in Calle Cuevas del Sol, where the huge rock overlooks the street, filtering the powerful rays of the southern Spanish sunshine. Setenil is also renowned for its quality of products: admire the olive trees overlooking the huge rock, providing its famous olive oil. This natural protection, more powerful than any fortress, has withstood all assaults and conflicts since medieval times, making the small village a true historical witness. Indeed, it is possible to taste its excellent almonds, grown since the Moors age, or to revel in its virtuous wine produced in its vineyards, since the fifteenth century during the Christian conquest.
