Written on : 28 March 2022
As one of the most visited cities in Europe, Barcelona is an ideal destination for a few days' holiday. Every year, millions of tourists from all over the world walk its streets, enjoy its gastronomy, relax on its beaches and visit its most famous monuments and museums.
There are also those who choose this city as their place of residence. Indeed, there are many people who, attracted by its charm and diversity, stay to live here, either for years or for a few months. In any case, nobody wants to miss the most emblematic places in Barcelona.
There are numerous advantages of a big city and a huge range of cultural and leisure activities. Concerts of all kinds, art exhibitions, activities, several museums... Not to mention the number of shops, bars and restaurants where you can shop, drink and eat. Each plan has a multitude of options.
However, the locations are sometimes far apart from each other. In this case, you need to find a quick way to get from one place to another. Many people choose the metro or bus, but some choose not to use them, whether because they don't want to mingle with a crowd, avoid queues, or for some other reason.
The bicycle is then the ideal option for getting around the city. It is ideal for getting to work, to the university, for daily shopping, for a stroll around the city, seeing friends, or sightseeing. There is no place in Barcelona that is inaccessible by bike. Indeed, the cycle paths connect the city and allow you to go from one end to the other.
Cycling in Barcelona
Not everyone can afford a bike, so services such as the Kleta bike pass allow you to have your bike for a monthly fee. This service has many advantages over other services.
Firstly, because the bike is yours, you don't have to share it with anyone else. In addition, there is no time limit on journeys, and you can park your bike in the car park of your choice, even at night. Furthermore, the subscription includes an anti-theft guarantee, insurance, and free bike repair and maintenance. It's a great alternative to the metro, car or bus inconvenience.
Cycling in Barcelona has many advantages. By bike, you can see all the city's sights, enjoy the fresh air and good weather, get some exercise, save money and time on your journeys and protect the environment. There is no doubt that this healthy and sustainable mode of transport fits perfectly into the Barcelona lifestyle.
Routes in Barcelona
Once you have your bike, hundreds of plans are sure to come up, and you'll want to visit as many places as possible: monuments, museums, places of interest. We recommend three routes that will allow you to enjoy everything the city offers.
Maritime route
This route is for sea lovers. We suggest you start at the famous W Hotel in Barcelona and continue along the seafront promenade until you reach the Olympic Port. After that, you will pass through Barceloneta and enjoy the sea views. If it's not too long, you can continue along Nova Icaria Beach, Bogatell Beach and Nova Mar Bella Beach, finishing at Port Forum. A magnificent way of getting to know the coast of Barcelona.
Mountain route
For the more daring, we recommend the Montjuic mountain route. Although it is a bit steep, it is worth it to get to the end to see the castle and the beautiful views of Barcelona. So follow this route: leave from the Fábrica Moritz and go along Rambla del Raval, Colón and Passeig Josep Carner until you start the ascent through the gardens of Mossèn Costa i Llobera, following the Ronda Verda de Montjuïc.
Once there, continue along the road to the Miramar viewpoint (where the hotel is) and reach the Joan Brossa gardens and the Alcalde viewpoint. Then, all that remains is to climb up to Montjuic Castle, one of the city's landmarks.
A route through the city
Barcelona has many places to visit, so there are many exciting routes. Here we suggest one of them: Start the route in Plaza Cataluña, which is considered the city centre, continue along Passeig de Gràcia, where you can see the Casa Batlló and the Pedrera-Casa Milà until you reach the Salvador Espriu Gardens. Once there, turn right onto Avinguda Diagonal until you reach Plaça de Pablo Neruda. At this point, you will have to turn left, and two blocks up, you will find the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia.
Enjoy Barcelona
Barcelona is a multicultural city with a wide range of activities. Therefore, you should see as many places as possible, enjoy the best typical dishes of Catalan gastronomy and experience the atmosphere to the maximum in the city.
