Architecture and luxury amid acres of ancient olive trees
The Villa Battimuro is located in the midst of private hectares of secular olive groves, between the Adriatic and the Ionioan seas. It is strategically located for visits to multiple places of cultural interests. It is also composed of three building encircling an impressive courtyard, which is paved with century old stones and dominated by a massive mulberry tree.
The first building is a 19th century restructured farm house that can welcome up to four guests. It is fully equipped with a lovely outdoor kitchen, a dishwasher and a washing machine.
Adjacent to it is the second building, which is a former stable turned into an en suite bedroom for two.
Both buildings possess private terraces amid the olive trees, outside the courtyard.
The third and main building, recently rebuilt, is a place that can accommodate up to four guests. It mainly consists of two en suite bedrooms, a spacious modern kitchen, a superb living place and an open/closed dining area. You can also find in this building a large terrace, either at ground level or high amongst the treetops.
Extra beds for small children can be provided on requests, and the four double beds can be turned into eight single beds, coming to a complete availability for 12 people, to which number the main building can easily be accommodated.
Depending on the season, the climate or your desire, the outside area can be turned into an inside place, and the inside space in the main building can be turned into outside rooms, all that through an intelligent system of sliding glass wall.
The ensemble of the buildings form one huge estate, a group of independent and fully equipped units, which can provide enough sleeping space for up to twelve guests around one courtyard. In 2016 this complex is only available for rent on a weekly basis, between June 17 and August 12.
The courtyard is an haven ideal for privacy if you wish to relax and enjoy some peace, and near its solitude, right through the main house into the overture of the olive groves you will find the 21 meter long pool, with its overall deft of 1.5 meters.
The owners, who live close by, are at your disposal and can organize about anything you might wish such as private services, yoga-sessions, dinner service etc.
The structure of the house is made in a way that respects strict ecological principles: electricity provided by solar panels, water collected from rainwater, buildings well isolated against heat, cold and humidity… Described as “passive homes”, they are guarantying to be cool in summer and cozy in winter.
In winter, the main building and the farm house are heated by a modern wood stove, which uses wood collected from the privately owned olive trees; and during the summer, they are constantly kept cool with the help of a heat pump and solar panels.
The Villa is 2,5 km drive away from the small agricultural town, San Michele Salentino and is situated 30 minutes away from the Brindisi Airport, and about one hour and a half from the Bari Airport.
Also, despite its seclusion from other houses, Villa Battimurro is well placed from the Adriatic coasts and the popular Ionian beaches,, which are respectively only 25 and 45 minutes away. Places like Ostuni, Lecce, Martina or Valle d’Itria are located in an hour distance, and places such as Gallipoli, Otranto or even Matera can easily be visited in an a day trip.
