San Savino is located in one of the most exclusive private country estates in Umbria, owned by the same family for generations. Renowned for its thousands of hectares of immaculate woods and olive groves, and for its superb valleys, lakes and rivers, it is the perfect place for a relaxing and tranquil holiday, offering impressive levels of comfort and elegance.

This four-bedroom, 14th century property is named after Saint Sabinus, Bishop of Spoleto, to whom the little church on the estate, now deconsecrated, was once dedicated. This used to be one of the most important churches of Murlo where the farmers would congregate for Sunday Holy Mass until the late 1970’s. One of the most ancient properties on the estate, its terracotta tile floors and original kitchen, along with its imposing old stone walls, give a sense of the building’s history as the most important social meeting point of the estate.

Set within the elegant, spacious garden the stunning terrace, decked in wood, provides a peaceful haven with uninterrupted views across the estate.

Location

To reach the villa there are 3km of white gravel road. Please note that the roads are in good conditions but occasionally steep and with little stones as all the country roads, so they are not suitable for low-height cars.

Villa San Savino has the unique advantage of being situated in the very centre of Umbria, an area where the simple pleasures of country living embrace art, history and architecture offering wonderful food and wine in nearby towns throughout the two adjoining regions of Lazio and Tuscany. Florence and Rome are within two hours’ drive of the estate and Siena, Arezzo, Assisi, Gubbio, Todi and Orvieto are all nearby. The region’s capital city Perugia is just 20 minutes away and offers a wealth of cultural activities. Other spectacular hilltop towns include Cortona and Preggio, the latter with its annual classical music festival, as well as the annual Montone Film Festival which attracts an international audience.
