How to get to the Ile de Ré

By car

You have to reach the city of La Rochelle by road or highway. La Rochelle is located in the middle of the Atlantic coast, halfway between Nantes and Bordeaux.
Since 1988, the island of Ré is connected to La Rochelle by a 3km long toll bridge.
Take autobahn A10 (exit 33 and 35) or national road N11.
The toll of the Ile de Ré bridge is on the mainland. The price is 9€ off season and 16€ in season.

The closest SNCF railway station to Ile de Ré is La Rochelle (45km).
La Rochelle railway station is connected by daily connections to Nantes, Bordeaux and Paris-Montparnasse (TGV Atlantique) stations.
The journey from Paris-La Rochelle takes about 3 hours.
To reach the Ile de Ré you can rent a vehicle at the station, take a taxi or use the bus service Ré Express from the forecourt of the train station of La Rochelle.

La Rochelle Ile de Ré airport offers year-round direct flights to Europe from the cities of Ajaccio, Birmingham, Bristol, Brussels, Dublin, Geneva, London Gatwick and Stansted, Lyon, Manchester, Porto, and Southampton.
The smallest budgets can reach the Ile de Ré by a direct bus line which runs in July and August.
