Villages such as Saint-Martin-de-Ré, Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré, Sainte-Marie-de-Ré or Saint-Clément-des-Baleines, with its iconic lighthouse, each express a distinct island character shaped by the sea and local heritage. The island life invites you to enjoy cycling along dedicated paths, walking trails between coast and countryside, exploring local markets and artisan shops, and tasting regional cuisine. Days can also include wine tours, paddleboarding, fishing or kite surfing, offering something for everyone in a relaxed island setting.
Loved visiting the little villages and markets on the island. The biking with Beach Bikes organised through Villanovo, the beach and the food. And of course some shopping. Silvie our concierge was so lovely and very helpful.
We visited the restaurants Bastion in Saint-Martin-en-Ré and L’Ocean in Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré as recommended and loved the food in both.
Listening to the waves while relaxing by the pool at the villa Prélude was probably one of the nicest parts of our days.
1. Cycling, in a group, with the grandchildren, to get the bread and croissants each morning. Ile-de-Re is perfect for families;
2. The Villa Aurore in Les-Portes-en-Ré is walking distance from the restaurant La Cabine de Patache, which is fabulous;
3. A day in St-Martin-de-Ré is a must.
Perfect location for families with teens. Everything is a short bike ride away. Wonderful beach. Great ice cream at Le Phare, Saint-Clément-des-Baleines. Loved the Ars-en-Ré market
The chef Jean Marie Montelus, surf lessons at Surf'in Ré, and biking with Beach Bikes were a ton of fun.

We enjoyed riding our bikes from Ars to St Martin, through the salt fields and trying oysters along the way.
We also loved going to the market in Ars and the bakery in the mornings.
The beach was also so close to ride our bike to.
