Gastronomy in Mexico - Mexico

The Gourmet Paradise

Food seems to have a very important place in the lives of Mexicans. The frequency of their meals is, in fact, multiplied compared to that of other countries in the world. This tradition is all the more visible when you travel in the country by mixing with the population. During your stay in this beautiful country, do not miss its delicious cuisine.
In Mexico, it is customary to have breakfast twice during the day. Early in the morning, you will have the opportunity to enjoy fresh fruit accompanied, as usual, with tea or coffee and some pastries. A little later in the day, you will have a more substantial breakfast. Eggs, Frijoles and tortillas will fill your plates.
Lunch comes a few hours later. The lunch hour is about the same as anywhere in the world, around noon. Around 6pm, you will have a break "antojitos", a kind of snack sold in the streets and fast foods. The dinner, usually very light, is only after 8pm. In short, Mexicans usually eat five times a day.

Mexican Specialities

As for the specialties, Mexico offers a wide choice of regional dishes. The best known include many spices, corn and also a lot of hot peppers.
You probably already know the tortillas, a crepe made from corn or wheat wrapping other foods. Tacos, which are tortillas garnished with meat, sauce and guacamole, are just as appealing. Precisely, guacamole enters the category of the leading specialties of Mexico. This mashed avocado salted and sprinkled with lemon juice accompanies many Mexican dishes.
In addition, another variant of the tortillas, the Quesadillas, this time filled with cheese, are also very appreciated. Finally, supplemented with onion and chicken, the Quesadillas become Enchiladas. In this list, we can also add the Mole representing the national dish of Mexico. This turkey-based dish is topped with a chocolate sauce enhanced with hot pepper and some nuts. A pure treat!
