Enjoy a Road trip in the South of France

Go on a road trip in the south of France to discover breathtaking landscapes. The Camargue, the small villages of Provence, the Calanques, mythical cities and finally the famous Gorges du Verdon. So many wonders that you can visit by car, at your own pace. We propose an itinerary of 10 stages, you can start on the 1st stage of day 1 or adapt it to your desires.

Day 1 Arles & The Camargue

Arles is known as the inspiration for Van Gogh and his work is on display in the Vincent van Gogh Foundation. As you walk through the city you will see many Roman ruins such as the Alyscamps, an ancient Roman church and the Arles Arena, an ancient amphitheatre. The city is also home to the famous Camargue Regional Nature Park. Salt marshes, rice fields and lush vegetation, plunge into the heart of a wild nature. Perfect for nature lovers, go on a safari to see horses and bulls in the wild. During your exploration, watch the birds, more than 250 species live in this park. Don't miss the pink flamingos!

Day 2 Baux-de-Provence & Les Alpilles (35 km, 30 min) 

Located in the Alpilles mountains, Baux-de-Provence is a small village typical of the region. The ruins of the town's castle are one of the most popular attractions in Baux-de-Provence, as are the Carrières de Lumières, a multimedia show projected onto a listed natural site. For nature lovers, a hike to the Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles is a must to explore the surroundings in depth. A corner of nature surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, the park is home to a variety of fauna and flora. Some producers are happy to open their doors to let you discover local products during your nature trip.


Day 3 Aix-en-Provence (70 km, 1h00)

Follow in the footsteps of Sézanne and admire his masterpieces at the Musée Granet. Aix-en-Provence is without doubt one of the most beautiful cities in France. Wander through its authentic streets, charming shops and don't miss the Cours Mirabeau, the heart of the city. After your visit, sit on a terrace in a pretty café and enjoy the Provencal atmosphere.

Day 4 Marseille (34 km, 40 min)

Marseille is a must-see in the South of France. Its old port, historical monuments such as the Basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde, its beaches and not forgetting its many museums. There are also many excursions available! Small islands are close to Marseille, the island of Ratonneau, the island of Riou, the island of If and its castle...
 

Day 5 Cassis & Les Calanques (35 km, 35 min)

Cassis is known for its creeks and long beaches. The Calanques National Park stretches from Marseille to Cassis, so don't miss out on this natural wonder between the two towns. Hikes, water sports or simply relaxing on the beach, the Calanques are a real haven of peace that will please the whole family.
 

Day 6 Hyères & Porquerolles (62 km, 55 min)

TLV TVM operates a boat service from Hyères (Port de la Tour Fondue) to Porquerolles. The boat trip takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive on the island you will discover beautiful beaches and cliffs surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. The best way to explore the paths of the small island is on a bike ride. Various shops rent bicycles, such as "Porquerolles à vélo", located near the island's port. Stroll through the small streets, admire the church and climb up to the Fort Saint-Agathe. Don't forget to take a break and taste the French gastronomy in one of the restaurants of the island.

Day 7 Saint-Tropez (51 km, 1h00)

Drive along the famous port of Saint-Tropez with its luxury boats, relax on the beach and of course don't forget to taste the famous tarte Tropézienne. For the best views, climb up to the citadel and learn more about the history of the town.
 

Day 8 Cannes (87 km, 1h20)

Famous around the world for its prestigious Cannes Film Festival and its red carpet of the biggest stars. You can take photos on the steps and star on the steps of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, which hosts the festival every year. Discover Cannes by strolling through the old quarter and then along the Croisette to admire the long stretches of beach. In the evening, cool off in the old port and enjoy a delicious Mediterranean meal in one of the nearby restaurants.
 

Day 9 Nice (33 km, 45 min)

With its palaces, beaches and picturesque streets, Nice is a popular holiday destination. Start at Place Masséna and explore the old town of Nice. Next stop is the Promenade des Anglais, arguably one of Nice's most famous landmarks. At the end of this promenade, you can walk up to the Parc de la Colline du Château. For the most beautiful views of the Côte d'Azur this is the place to be, although only the ruins of this castle remain.
 

Day 10 The Verdon Gorges (153 km, 2h20)

For your last stop, it is impossible not to go to the Gorges du Verdon. A wide range of activities are available, a change of scenery is guaranteed! Kayak or pedal boat on the Sainte Croix lake, hiking in the canyons, cycling, climbing, horse riding and paragliding. There are even unusual activities such as spending an evening suspended over the cliffs of the Verdon. All these activities are carried out in a paradisiacal setting, in the middle of lush nature and turquoise waters.
