1. San Rossore and Oasi Lipu Massaciuccoli

One of the largest parks in the whole of Tuscany, this protected area expands along the coastline, passing through the provinces of Lucca and Pisa. Massaciuccoli is home to a wonderful lake that offers visitors the opportunity to practice their favourite sporting activities such as rowing or kayaking. Furthermore, in this area you will find a rich history on the estate of San Rossore where Gabriele D’Annunzio, the famous poet, once lived. Remember to take a pair of binoculars with you as this area is home to many protected birds and species.

The area of Chianti is home to a number of vineyards that entice visitors year on year. The wonderful landscape gives travellers breathtaking views to admire. 3. Val D’orcia Park

Listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, this park is a place of culture and is one of the most visited areas in the whole of Tuscany. You will instantly be transported back in time to the Renaissance period where the colours and atmosphere represent a real work of art. The countryside views, with farmhouses dotted around the hills, will allow you to see the true Tuscany and get a real feel for the place - one not to be missed! The park is also home to two ancient spa towns: Bagno Vignoni with its wonderful Piazza delle Sorgenti, an ancient pool of around 50m that used to collect thermal water. The other town, Bagni San Filippo, is home to the Fosso Bianco, a brilliant limestone deposit in the heart of the woods.

5. Archaeological Park of San Silvestro

Covering 450 hectares, this park largely focuses on the extraction of different minerals and gives visitors the opportunity to pay a visit to the Temperino Mine. Here you will be able to follow the tour guide and learn about the world of miners over time - a real adventure that both young and old alike will thoroughly enjoy. Hop on the mining train that crosses the Lanzi-Temperino tunnel and be transported to a magical world filled with colour underground. At the end of the tunnel you can follow the path up to the medieval village of San Silvestro at the top of the hill, that has now been abandoned - a real history lesson is guaranteed!
