What to do in Mykonos?

What to do in Mykonos?

First of all, take the time to stroll through the town of Chora - also known as Mykonos town. Located on the west side of the island, its narrow picturesque streets, small shops, and restaurants will enchant you for an afternoon.

There are many churches in Mykonos, including the Paraportiani church, which has a unique architecture. This 16th century Byzantine building is the oldest church in Mykonos and consists of 5 churches nested within each other.

Don't miss the Alefkandra district, nicknamed "Little Venice",  one of the most photographed places on the island. From a terrace or its small beach, watch the sunset over the Aegean Sea and, the waves break on the colored windows of the perched houses. A very romantic moment.

If you want to get away from Mykonos for a day, one of the most popular excursions is to the island of Delos. It is an archaeological site where, according to legend, Apollo was born. Sanctuary, temple, and agoras come and discover this place full of history.

Traditional Greek cuisine is in most of the island's restaurants. Be sure to try the local specialties: "Louza Loukaniko" (a kind of sausage) and "Kopanisti" (fresh goat cheese with pepper). There are also many restaurants with more international cuisine. For reasonable prices and quality, visit the taverns along the promenade or just across the fish market.
