Portugal's capital is full of exciting places and monuments to visit. During your stay in Lisbon, take a gastronomic break in one of the city’s beautiful restaurants. Villanovo has found a variety of restaurants, bars, rooftops and beach restaurants to make your trip as enjoyable as possible. Discover our selection below.
R. Garrett 122, 1200-273 Lisboa
Opened in 1905, Café A Brasileira is one of the oldest in Lisbon. After strolling through the streets of Chiado, take a break in this mythical place of the city. You'll discover a variety of pastries, served in an interior decorated with chandeliers, ceiling mouldings and wood. Try the famous pasteis de nata with a 'bica', a Portuguese term for espresso.
Ferroviario Rooftop
Rua de Santa Apolónia 59, 1100-468 Lisboa
Initially, this establishment was used to host events to promote the Portuguese railway networks. Since 2010, the rooftop has been showcasing the city's artistic talents on its stage. Amidst the palm trees, the 500m2 open terrace houses a bar, relaxation areas and a stage. In a festive and cosy atmosphere, come and enjoy tapas with your friends.
Prado
Travessa das Pedras Negras 2, Estrela, 1100-404 Lisboa
Housed in a former 19th century fish cannery, come and discover Prado. With a spacious, designer interior and hanging plants, this restaurant offers dishes based on the "farm to table" concept. Each dish is made from fresh, seasonal produce from local Portuguese farms. The menu includes ten different dishes that vary according to the season. There are only 50 tables, so we advise you to book a table. If you're walking around the Baixa, Lisbon's historic district, the Prado is a must.
Bohemian Beach Club
Praia da Cabana do Pescador, 2825-491 Costa Da Caparica
Right on the beach, enjoy Mediterranean cuisine including the famous bacalhau (cod). In a bohemian atmosphere, sit in the armchairs and sofas inside. You can also enjoy the view from the terrace facing the sea. If you are looking for a seafood restaurant in an idyllic setting, the Bohemian Beach Club is the place to come.
O Frade
Calçada da Ajuda, 14, Belém, Lisbon
Run by 2 cousins, O Frade is the name of the restaurant opened by their grandparents in Beja. Today, the restaurant they opened in Lisbon bears the same name. Each dish is served with a special wine. The dishes are prepared in the kitchen, behind the counter where the guests are seated. It's a friendly place where everyone comes together to have a good time. The chefs revisit traditional Portuguese cuisine and use seasonal products.
Bairro do Avillez
Rua Nova da Trindade, 18, 1200-303 Lisboa
Bairro do Avillez is divided into different areas: a pizzeria, a patéo (dishes accompanied by wine and beer where fish is king), a taberna (appetizers, cheese, cold cuts...) as well as a gastronomic bar. Opened in 2016 in Chiedo, the same neighbourhood as Café A Brasileira, it is one of the establishments of the famous chef José Avillez. In this unusual place you will also find a small market, where you can buy cheese, cold cuts and wine.
