A family weekend in Marbella

Would you like to go on vacation with your family to the south of Spain? Marbella is famous for its seaside resort and its long stretches of white sand. It is one of the most important cities in Andalusia and the Costa del Sol. It offers many activities to do with the family, whether at the beach or in the old town where you will discover many museums and monuments showing its rich heritage.

Here is our guide for a short stay in Marbella.

When to go?

With 320 days of sunshine per year, the city enjoys a privileged climate. However, the best time to go to Marbella is between April and October. July and August are the hottest months, while December and January are the mildest. You will have a great chance to spend your vacations under sunny skies!

How to get to Marbella?

By plane: Marbella does not have an airport, the closest one is in Malaga. But don't worry, there is a bus connection between the airport and the city of Marbella. When you leave Terminal 3, buy a ticket at the desk and head for the bus stop. In less than an hour you will be in Marbella!

By car: If you are traveling to Marbella by car, you will need to take the A7. This road runs along the coast and the sea, where you will enjoy the beautiful landscapes.

What to visit?

Stroll through the streets of the old city

The city has been crossed by many civilizations. Walking through the streets of the Casco Antiguo, you can't miss seeing the great walls of the city. Once a fortress, all that remains today are the great towers and walls that surrounded and protected the city. Declared a site of cultural interest, this remnant is one of the most important monuments of Marbella's Moorish heritage.

As you continue your journey through the beautiful white streets, you will find another historical monument near the ruins of the fortress.

Located in the heart of the old town, the Plaza de las Naranjas is the most emblematic place in the city. Built-in the 15th century, it is a beautiful cobbled square with a fountain and many small restaurants. Take a break and share some delicious tapas with your family. The town hall and the tourist office are both located here.

After your walk, you can relax in the Parque de la Alameda, a green area with a mix of exotic and Mediterranean plants.

Pedal along the maritime promenade

Connecting Marbella to Puerto Banús, this promenade offers the most beautiful views of the city. Cycle along the Costa del Sol and live a unique experience by cycling along the Paseo Maritimo. As you ride along, admire the scenery in front of you with the green mountains as a backdrop. Share good memories with your family in this heavenly setting! Plus, it's the perfect activity to explore the city from a new perspective.
