Flamenco

If you are in Seville, you should not miss out on discovering flamenco. This dance, influenced by the Moorish, Jewish and Gypsy cultures, is considered an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. It is inspired by Spanish folklore and music from North Africa and India, popularised at the end of the 18th century in Andalusia. During the golden age of music until the 1910s, Seville gave birth to many performers considered to be the best in the country.

Together with Jerez and Cádiz, Seville is therefore the perfect place to enjoy a flamenco show. The tablaos are large venues offering impressive shows by renowned dancers and musicians. While admiring the dancers and the music you can dine or just have a drink.

Where to go to see a flamenco show?
Los Gallos Tablao Flamenco is one of the oldest tablaos in Seville. It is a house with traditional Andalusian architecture. You will be taken straight into the Andalusian atmosphere with its flamenco singing, dancing and guitar shows. You will also be able to enjoy a variety of cocktails and the unmistakable sangria.

Bullfighting

Bullfighting

Bullfighting has existed in Spain in different forms since at least Roman times. This controversial spectacle takes place above all in the Andalusian capital, for the development of this tradition, which for many is nothing but torture. But whether one is for or against it, bullfighting is an integral part of Spanish and especially Andalusian culture. Seville's bullring hosts more than 15 bullfighting events a year, most of which are bullfights.

There is therefore no doubt that Seville is one of the biggest cradles of bullfighting, as many bullfighters come from the region and you will also find many fighting bull runs in the fields.

The bullfighting season starts from 28th February, and then you can enjoy bullfighting shows throughout the year in Andalusia.

Tapas

Tapas

Tapas are an essential element when you want to discover Spanish culture, and even more so when you go to Andalusia! Originally they were simple little bites like olives or a slice of tortilla that was served with a glass, but over the years tapas have become more and more elaborate and refined to appear in many restaurants.

According to legend, the concept of tapas dates back to the 13th century, when King Alfonso X ate small portions of food with his glass of wine, on the orders of his doctor. Others say that it stems from the habit of farm workers to eat snacks during the day's work in the fields.

What is certain is that tapas are very popular in Seville, so you will find many tapas restaurants for all prices and tastes! Don't hesitate to get lost in the small labyrinthine streets and you will find authentic tapas bars.
