If you are looking for enjoyable family activities to experience all together while getting a better insight of the area, sea kayaking would be the best option.
It is an activity for all ages, however, we advise those with children under the age of 7 to go for a canoe instead as it provides greater safety and comfort because it is more stable and spacious, so children can be accompanied by their parents.
There are many possible kayak excursions that will allow you to discover some of the most beautiful corners of the Costa Brava and visit paradisiacal coves, caves, islets and canals which can only be accessed by sea.
Paddle surf is an entertaining way for your children to enjoy themselves while exploring Costa Brava’s seas. We believe an ideal place to do so is Cala de Aiguablava, a crystalline waters cove located in the town of Begur.

This beach is of fine sand and well protected from the north wind, therefore ideal for kids and for those getting started in the practice of stand-up paddle surfing.
Furthermore, if the sea and wind conditions allow it, we advise you to paddle your way to peaceful Cala Marquesa in Palafrugell.
For those who enjoy diving, the best place to do so would be the diverse area around the protected Medes Islands, which are home to a variety of colourful species. This activity is advised for children above 10 and in order to make the most of your experience, we would be willing to hire a qualified guide that accompanies you during the underwater navigation and helps you discover the fauna and flora safely.
If you want to experience a different and relaxing family activity, we recommend you to take a boat trip and sail the peaceful Mediterranean waters.
You will be able to sunbathe while discovering the Costa Brava and being captivated by the first glimpse of its beaches, hidden coves and cliffs of the coastline. You can also show your children the secrets of the seabed through the glass floor that many of these boats have.
The Costa Brava coastline offers many delightful boat trips, however, we believe it is best to sail around the Medes Island, Cap de Creus and the unique Cala Jóncols. Cala Jóncols is a virgin cove, made up of pebbles and small rocks and home to one of the fanciest restaurants in the Girona coastline, which you must not leave without trying.
Regarding which boat to rent, it depends on the number of people you are and whether you would like to have a crew or not. Nevertheless, we will offer you a luxurious fleet of boats and help you find which one suits you best, so you can enjoy the wonders of the Mediterranean Sea.
If what you are looking for is a fun activity for your younger children to enjoy, we advise you to visit the water parks located in the Costa Brava.
We have selected 3 parks which are renowned for their safety, comfort and quality and have facilities for all ages and are therefore suitable for all family members.
Firstly, Water World, located at Lloret de Mar, is one of the largest water parks in Europe and offers a wide range of attractions for all ages such as slides, a wave pool and hot tubs. It even has a 40-meter slide that seems almost vertical, ideal for thrill-seekers.
Secondly, as with Water World, Aquadiver in Platja D’aro has facilities for all ages: a wave pool, a hydrotherapy pool, a children's pool, play areas for the younger ones, as well as a picnic area which includes services such as rental of deckchairs.
Finally, if you prefer the beach to swimming pools, your children can also enjoy an incredible time during their holiday in Empuriabrava’s sea water park.
The magnificent Platja d'Empuriabrava offers an inflatable complex in the water during the summer which is at a small distance from the beach. This inflatable playground not only has slides, but also trampolines, fun obstacle areas and many floating platforms, connected to each other.
In a nutshell, Costa Brava is a perfect destination for families with kids of all ages as besides its beautiful coastline and paradisiacal coves, there are a wide variety of activities to ensure the younger ones have an unforgettable time.
