Conques

Conques is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful medieval villages in France, and a visit here will be a trip you'll never forget. It is also one of Santiago de Compostela's important stops on its pilgrimage route, making it a destination that draws countless visitors every year. Walking down its cobbled streets with surrounding walls covered in vegetation is a journey into the past. You can also marvel at its magnificent architecture from the 11th and 12th century, paying close attention to its distinctive roofs. Ultimately, wherever you may gaze at, there's a postcard-perfect image worthy of a photograph. Be sure to have enough battery on your phone or camera, because you won't resist snapping every corner of this beautiful village.

Pérouges

If you ever wanted to travel back in time and experience the quintessential medieval French village, then you ought to bookmark Pérouges for your next trip. This delightful quaint village located only a few kilometres away from Lyon, right in the heart of the Rhône-Alpes, was at the height of its fame during Medieval times-- given its booming textile and wine industries at the time. But what's truly special about this village, is the fact that it has stayed intact from modernity-- it's arguably one of those places where time has frozen, evoking its bygone times. You will instantly fall in love with its enchanting 15th and 16th-century homes. And don't miss the picturesque Place du Linden-- a famous 13th-century inn that is a true eye-catcher.

What's more, many famous film sets have been shot in this location-- such as "The Three Musketeers" and "Monsieur Vincent".
