Where to spend spring in luxury?

The winter is beginning to fade, spring fever may be beginning to kick in and you start to look forward to the coming months of sunnier days and blossoming flowers. However, April arrives and the few sunkissed spells you enjoyed become history as April showers make their entrance. Maybe this year is the year to avoid the doom and gloom and discover some spring sun.

Easter is the perfect time to enjoy the heat. Many locations, especially across Europe, allow you to spend time by the pool or on an excursion for the entire day as the weather is hot enough to enjoy, but not intense enough to keep you in the shade at peak times. The beginning of a new season can mean a fresh start; to spend time with family or friends or explore different ways of life with foreign cultures. Discover the best destinations to escape to this spring and some magnificent villas to stay at along the way.

Algarve, Portugal

Algarve, Portugal

Arguably, visiting Portugal in the spring months is the best time of the year to do so. The skies are blue, the flowers are blooming and there is a certain freshness to the air. Pair the mid 20Cs temperature with a quieter atmosphere, a trip to a beautiful beach or an afternoon’s indulgence of delicious Portuguese cuisine like the famous Bacalhau dish could not be more ideal.

An essential place to discover if you decide to take the leap and book an adventure this spring is Praia da Marinha, an absolute gem of the south coast. This place is perfect for some rejuvenation while listening to the waves crashing. Although, this exquisite beach is not just for relaxing. Stroll through the caves found on the beach which are enormous in size, bearing silhouettes comparable to buildings. This is the perfect opportunity to get creative and capture some moments with photography or videography. Or if you wish to capture cityscapes, head to Lagos and enjoy the colourful architecture and flavourful gastronomy.

If you are feeling spontaneous this year and fancy catching some spring sun or want to escape during the Easter holidays, we have just the place you can call home for a week or two. Villa Onix is one of our magnificent luxury villas in the Algarve, situated only a few kilometres from the white sandy beaches of Quinta de Lago. If time to bond with family or friends is something you crave, then this beautiful home which can host up to 12 guests is ideal. Also, with its pool, barbeque and stunning garden complete with a cascade waterfall, everyone is bound to have the most relaxing of stays.

Ibiza, Balearic Islands

Ibiza, Balearic Islands

What could be more perfect than exploring an island which has everything? Ibiza, a Spanish island of only 572 km2, has everything from luscious green landscapes in the north to traditional towns with quaint narrow streets in the south. In springtime, expect temperature highs to be 20C - perfect weather for enjoying a fresh glass of sangria by the beach.

This island, typically renowned for its abundance of party-goers, is not always all about the nightlife. There is so much history and culture to enjoy during your stay. Ibiza boasts a bohemian atmosphere due to the many people who migrated in the 60s. You can find an abundance of markets full of handmade crafts and vibrant clothing - perfect for finding something special to bring home. On the other hand, if enjoying some fine wine at a bar at night is your thing, due to being the quieter season, relish in the calmness which goes with visiting Ibiza in spring.

If you want to feel like you are on top of the world, then Villa Wolf might be the place to stay. Enjoy enchanting views over the ocean or pack a bag and head to Cala Vadella beach which is only 5 minutes away. The luxury villa is spacious enough to sleep a maximum of 8 guests, yet its design offers a cosiness to enjoy in the cooler evenings.

Marrakech, Morocco

Marrakech, Morocco

There is nothing more overwhelming than heading to a new place to find yourself hindered by the overly hot and tiring weather with no respite. This is why springtime is the optimal time to visit Morocco. Temperatures usually float around the mid-20s during March, April and May, mainly with very clear and dry weather. Marrakech is the perfect destination if you wish to soak up some sun. Although, if you desire some cultural discovery on an excursion, the weather is ideal for long days out.

Renew yourself in the new season by enjoying a hammam. A traditional Moroccan hot steamed bath, often followed by a massage. This is the ultimate way to relax on holiday while trying something truly authentic. Once you are relaxed, consider visiting the souk, a lively market selling products like rugs, furniture and spices. If you are up to it, haggling is commonplace and something which is fun to get involved in. If you find a souvenir to take home, consider bartering with a vendor to make your purchase that much more memorable.
