To get to Comporta, you have to fly to Lisbon. Upon landing in Lisbon, you will have to drive for about 1 hour to reach this hidden slice of paradise. The journey can be made by train, bus or car. Lisbon International Airport receives flights from all over the world, so getting to the Portuguese capital from many cities in Europe and around the world is straightforward. Flights from th UK to Lisbon depart from three of Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.
Although this little unspoilt haven seems cut off from the world, it is only a little over an hour away from Lisbon. So, if you are staying in the Lusitanian capital, it would be a shame not to visit Comporta.
If you are travelling by car, you can reach Setúbal in 35 minutes (it is only 50 kilometres away). A ferry will then take you to the Troia peninsula.
There are also several bus lines that make this journey, which will be quicker or slower depending on the route. The bus station in Setúbal is conveniently located near the port where you will take the ferry, making it perfect for your transfer.
If you want to travel by bus directly, you have to transfer to Grândola.
Alternatively, you can take the train to Setúbal. In this case, the journey time will be longer, as you will have to change in Campolide.
Summer in Comporta is quite hot. Sometimes, even as early as May, the temperature may well rise to 25°C, which is very pleasant for visiting the city.
During the winter the temperature remains quite mild, fluctuating between 13°C and 15°C. This period of the year is quite rainy, with an average of 10 to 15 days of rain per month.
Villanovo advises you to go around May to June, or September to October if you want to make an excursion to Lisbon outside the busy tourist periods.
The best time to visit the beaches is from July to August, but temperatures can quickly rise above 30°C.
