The Regions of Comporta: Where to Rent Your Villa

This small fishing region in the south of the Tróia peninsula lies in a vast, unspoilt area with the longest sandy beach in Europe. Still little visited by the general public, it suggests a tiny patch of land at the end of the world. Yet, this little paradise is only 15 minutes away by boat from Lisbon. With its Camargue-like atmosphere, abundant natural beauty, endless paddy fields and little restaurants serving local specialities and seafood, Comporta offers you an exceptional place to spend your holidays. Before you select where to book your villa, take a look at a small selection of the most beautiful places in the Comporta region.

The Regions of Comporta: Where to Rent Your Villa - Comporta

Praia da Comporta, Praia do Carvalhal and Praia do Pego

Three great beaches await you along this stretch of Portuguese coastline: Praia da Comporta, Praia do Carvalhal and Praia do Pego, all of which are Blue Flag beaches and easily accessible. These spots offer a multitude of possible activities (volleyball, massage sessions...) as well as top quality fish restaurants. Sal was recently named the best beach bar in the world by Condé Nast Traveler magazine.

Muda

Muda and Bicas invite you to enjoy their charming, traditional atmosphere, a destination that is particularly recommended for holidaymakers shunning the crowds.

Grândola

Grândola is a characteristic small town in Alentejo. Lying amidst farmland and the cork oak trees for which the region is famous, and close to the region's most famous beaches, Grândola is a delightful, picturesque little town.

Trivia: in Portuguese history, the name of Grândola is associated with the music Grândola Vila Morena, by José Afonso, one of the icons of the Carnation Revolution.

Troia

The Tróia Peninsula is a 21 kilometre-long narrow strip of sand, just a short ferry ride from Setubal along the Sado estuary. Here you will find tranquil pine forests and a golf course. Sheltered by mountains, the Troia Peninsula enjoys a mild microclimate. The Reserva Natural do Estuario do Sado covers part of the peninsula, and is home to many species of birds. The waters around the peninsula are home to a school of bottlenose dolphins, which you can see by taking a tour.
