Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of Portugal and therefore of continental Europe. So you will feel like you are at the end of the world when you visit this place and enjoy the magnificent view from the edge of the cliffs.

If you are staying in the Lisbon area, take the time to visit the incredible city of Sintra and don't miss the opportunity to go as far as Cabo da Roca. At about 150 metres above sea level, you can enjoy views of the Serra de Sintra and the coast. It is located in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and is one of the most important points of interest during your walk. Many bird-watching enthusiasts come here to enjoy the incredible flora and fauna.

Once arrived in Cabo da Roca, the first thing to do is to go and see the lighthouse, which is still active. This magnificent red and white lighthouse overlooking the Atlantic Ocean began operating at the end of the 18th century and is 165 metres high. 
 
Then go and see the stone monument with a cross at the top where the poem by the famous Luís de Camões, "Onde a terra se acaba e o mar começa", meaning "the place where the land ends and the sea begins", is inscribed.

Go to the end of the world, to Cabo da Roca

The Cabo da Roca has always played an important role, historical documents indicate that until the 17th century, a fort was located here to guard the entrance to the port of Lisbon, forming a defensive line along the coast. 
 
The beaches around Cabo da Roca are simply magnificent. You will find the Praia da Ursa by a slightly steep but accessible path. You can also go to Praia da Adraga, a little further away, or Praia do Louriçal, famous for its rocky arch.

For an even better experience, stay and watch the sunset from the cliffs. Most people watch it from the lighthouse, but if you want a little more peace and quiet, walk through the trails to find the perfect spot.
