Climb up Sigiriya

Jutting out from an imposing slope surrounded by a vast jungle, Sri Lanka's most famous attraction isn't a temple or a Buddhist statue, but a beautifully unique rock, which for many it resembles Pride Rock from Lion King. Once used as a legendary fortress, now people can venture climbing up to the summit and treat themselves to indescribably enchanting views. This impressive 370-metres-high rock, formed by eroded magma from a once-active volcano, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. It's recommended to visit this landmark very early in the morning, to avoid the tourist crowds.

Explore Nuwara Eliya

Explore Nuwara Eliya

If you fancy learning about tea cultivation, then Nuwara Eliya is a must-visit on one's travel itinerary. This destination not only offers magnificent landscapes of tea fields, rolling hills, lush mountains, and enchanting waterfalls- but also a beautiful town with British-colonial architecture where one can savour the best teas and delicious foods of the region. This town is today a great source of Sri Lanka's economy.

Visit Uda Walawe National Park

Visit Uda Walawe National Park

Located near the village of Embiliptiya in southern Sri Lanka, Uda Walawe National Park is a great place to go on inspiring safaris and witness the beautiful animals in their wild habitat. Given the country boasts popular national parks galore, this is one we recommend that is off-the-tourist-radar-- where one can still appreciate the enthralling wildness of the area. The star-animal of this park is the elephant, so brace yourself to admire these majestic creatures that are estimated to be around 400. One can also see herds of buffalos, sambars, crocodiles, and various exotic bird species-- perfect for bird watching buffs. This park was created to provide a sanctuary for wildlife displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Dam on the Walawe River.

Have a Soak in Negombo

Have a Soak in Negombo

One of the best things you could think of doing in Sri Lanka is to visit the magical beaches of Negombo. Known to have some of the most magical sunsets of the country, you can enjoy walking along its white-sandy beaches with crystal-clear waters while savouring a freshly-squeezed cocktail in hand. The area also boasts plenty of restaurants and pubs along its promenade for enjoying a spirited atmosphere. You can dance to live music while contemplating the breathtaking views of the inviting turquoise sea with fishermen boats, followed by a nice soak with your loved ones-- absolute heaven.
