Travelling in Tanzania is the assurance of disconnecting yourself completely from your daily life and coming back transformed by the many discoveries you will have made on your way but also by the unique landscapes that will remain forever engraved in your memory. At Villanovo, we advise you to go there during the dry season which is the most frequented by tourists but especially the one where the rains are almost non-existent. That is to say ideally between July and the end of September or between November and February.
Tanzania has several large cities such as Dar Es Salam, a former fishing village that became the capital of more than 4 million people before it was ceded to Dodoma in 1996. You will thus find most of the economic activity in these cities, but also beautiful discoveries of the local life of Tanzanians such as the activity of woodcarving, but also many small streets that host fruit stalls and the sale of various everyday objects. Large markets are also organized every day where one discovers a hectic life.
Beyond these cities, Tanzania is known to be home to Kilimanjaro, Africa's largest mountain, which you can attempt to climb if you are a good sportsman. At the same time, you will be able to enjoy this wonder of nature through more accessible hikes and the discovery of the Chagga culture, but also to admire magnificent sunsets on the mountain. This country is also known to host one of the largest concentrations of wildlife on earth that make for
great safaris. The site of Sélou is ideal if you want to make a magnificent safari to discover lions, zebras, hippos, but also crocodiles. The wild plains of Serengeti National Park are also a magnificent reserve where you will discover many protected species. All around these vast wilderness areas, you will observe traditional small Tanzanian villages whose houses are built of earth with thatched roofs and generally arranged around a large well that supplies the village with water.
If you are more looking for a destination to relax on sandy beaches, Tanzania and its beautiful small islands, the most famous of which is Zanzibar, is also for you. Climb aboard the traditional small dugout canoe-like piers and discover the island of Kilwa, a real little treasure with a gentle way of life where you might be lucky enough to witness a celebration of the island's inhabitants. If you want to go directly to
Zanzibar, we advise you to leave Dar Es Salaam by boat for about 2 hours before reaching Stone Town, a warm seaside resort where several markets light up in the evening and offer you to eat local flavours, but also elsewhere where you can taste Chinese cuisine for example. Taste the typical dishes of the island including a delicious recipe that combines a wheat wafer and several of your choice of ingredients covered with a second wafer. The paradisiacal beach of Padje will offer you pictures worthy of postcards thanks to its turquoise water, its palm trees, but also the small restaurants and craft shops that surround it. A wide range of water sports will be proposed to you including kitesurfing where the conditions are optimal! Dive sessions are also organized to observe the coral reefs, but also the whale sharks that make up the incredible underwater fauna and flora.
