Bol - Vidova Gora

Vidova Gora is the highest mountain of all the islands in the Adriatic Sea and treats hikers with the most breathtaking views in the region. With its 778 m above sea level, one can admire the views of Bol, Golden Cape and the nearby island of Vis and Hvar. This route is a must for trekking lovers and boasts well-marked trails. One can take off from the picturesque village of Bol- on the opposite coast to Supetar. The route covers 5km uphill to reach the peak and then downhill, taking between 1.30 to 2h to complete. It isn't a challenging hike. However, if you plan to climb up with children, you can climb from the Knezevravan plateau near Nerezisce. For those who don't mind taking their time and going on a longer route, starting from Bol is ideal, as the village's attractiveness will treat hikers with more charming landscapes along the way. After reaching the bottom, you can visit Golden Cape and Bol, the most dreamy beaches in Croatia, where you can also find protected nature reserves of the Adriatic. At these beaches, you can go surfing, swimming or kitesurfing.

Murvica - Zmajeva Pecina (Dragon Cave)

Murvica - Zmajeva Pecina (Dragon Cave)

Located 5km west of Bol, Zmajeva Pecina is home to one of the most unusual caves on the Adriatic coast, known as the "Dragon Cave", and takes 1 hour to reach from the small village of Murvica. The cave is famous for its relief carvings, thought to have been sculpted by a 15th-century friar. It's believed they are pagan symbols that include angels, animals and dragons. The cave is still shrouded in superstitions, myths and fables of fairies, werewolves and witches, and of course, dragons! Setting off in the early morning for this hike is highly advisable. If you're looking for something offbeat, then this hike is a great choice!

Bol - Blaca Hermitage

Hiking to Blaca from Bol is an excellent family trek if you want to discover Brac's most interesting architectural complex and takes up to 50 minutes to reach. Known as an ancient monastery-- Blaca hermitage originated from a cave where 16th-century monks of the Croatian Glagolitic Order would find solitude. Believed to be highly spiritual, they built a church surrounding the cave and was run for over 400 years. Reaching Blaca with the family will make for a pleasant hike. Along the way, you'll get to admire Bol's breathtaking sceneries of pine forests against the azure backdrop. Once reaching Blaca Hermitage, now turned into a museum, you can admire preserved features such as its myriad doors, pathways, wooden desks, and an old mill carved from stone.
