Just a few kilometres away, Ile Rousse welcomes you with its local markets, lively squares and family-friendly beaches. Ideal for a peaceful day out or a family outing, it is a great base from which to explore the region.
Take a day trip to the legendary Cap Corse. Head out on the coastal road to discover the authentic villages of Erbalunga, Centuri or Nonza; the pristine beaches of Barcaggio for a lazy afternoon; and the coastal paths with their historic Genoese towers and breathtaking views of the sea. You will immerse in the typical colours of northern Corsica and its picturesque landscapes.
When based in Balagne, a day in Bastia is a must. Stroll on the charming narrow streets in the old town and around the old port. Visit the Place Saint-Nicolas and the Governors' Palace in the heart of the historic citadel. Worth a visit, Bastia is the perfect embodiment of Corsican soul, a blend of tradition and liveliness. Bastia is also one of the best places for lunch or dinner in an excellent traditional restaurant.
When you have hit the halfway point of your two weeks in Corsica, link Balagne to the south of the island via the inland route (around a 3h30 drive). Take a short stop in Corte and explore the Restonica Valley, an idyllic setting for a day of hiking, taking a refreshing swim in the river or picnicking in breathtaking scenery.
