Between lagoons, beaches and landscapes opening onto the Indian Ocean, Mauritius’ west coast is well suited to stays with family or friends. Among our villas in Mauritius, our west coast properties offer, depending on the villa, a private pool, a garden or a location close to the shoreline. A dedicated local concierge service supports guests before and during their stay.
Each villa in our west coast collection is selected for its generous proportions and thoughtful layout, making it well suited to families, couples or groups travelling together. Spacious bedrooms open onto shaded terraces, while living areas are designed to flow naturally between the garden and the sea.
Most properties in Mauritius feature private pools, occasionally heated, set within tropical gardens with open sea views. Several also include a hammam or dedicated wellness area. Beachfront properties typically offer four or five bedrooms, providing useful flexibility for families or groups comparing different options.
Many villas include house staff and daily housekeeping, while selected properties also offer the services of a private chef. From the first enquiry to arrival, Villanovo manages the villa booking with clarity and attention to detail, helping guests choose the property best suited to their stay.
Villanovo’s villas on the west coast are located across several distinct areas, from Black River to Flic en Flac, with settings ranging from coastal neighbourhoods to quieter residential surroundings. In Black River, our properties place guests close to the coast, shops and everyday services, while still providing convenient access to the landscapes of the south-west.
Further north, our villas in Flic en Flac are well positioned for the area’s long beach, restaurants and local amenities. This part of the coast is particularly suited to guests who want to remain close to the sea while keeping daily services within easy reach.
Our villas in Tamarin are set between the bay and the western hills, in a more residential part of the coast known for its open landscapes and easy access to the sea. The area remains close to restaurants, shops and outdoor activities while offering a quieter atmosphere than some of the island’s larger resort areas.
Nearby, our properties in Tamarina Golf Estate offer a different setting, combining privacy with direct access to the golf course and the estate’s landscaped surroundings. This location is particularly well suited to guests who want to stay close to Tamarin while enjoying a more secluded environment.
Further south, our villas in Le Morne are located around the peninsula dominated by Le Morne Brabant. The lagoon, beaches and mountain shape the setting, giving this part of the coast a more dramatic natural character. From here, guests are also well placed for water sports, hiking and exploring the wider south-west of Mauritius.
Villanovo’s dedicated local concierge service supports guests before arrival and throughout their stay on Mauritius’ west coast, with practical assistance tailored to the villa and their preferences. Airport transfers, car hire, childcare, restaurant reservations and the services of a private chef can all be arranged.
Thanks to the team’s local knowledge, guests can also receive recommendations and assistance for experiences along the coast, from boat outings and time at sea to selected restaurants and activities in the surrounding area.
Beyond the villa, the west coast offers a varied mix of beautiful beaches, mountain landscapes and nature. Le Morne Brabant, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, rises above the lagoon and forms one of the most recognisable landscapes in the south-west of Mauritius.
Further inland, Chamarel Village and the coloured earths lead towards Black River Gorges National Park, where forest trails pass through waterfalls, elevated viewpoints and dense tropical vegetation.
The coastline is equally well suited to water activities. Its clear waters invite swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving along sheltered reefs, where guests can discover the island’s marine life, while kite surfing attracts enthusiasts to the One Eye spot. Off Tamarin, dolphin watching at sunrise remains one of the area’s best-known sea experiences.
For a change of setting, guests can also spend a day in Grand Baie on the north coast, combining time by the lagoon with restaurants, boutiques and a more animated waterfront. Along the west coast itself, sampling local gadjaks adds a more everyday Mauritian dimension to time spent exploring the region.
