At once gastronomic, cultural and historical, the Tea Route offers you a discovery of tea, sugar cane and vanilla farms in the heart of three preserved areas. You travel South of the island for a discovery of new flavours and secrets of making the famous Mauritian tea.
Your visit begins with the Domaine des Aubineaux located in the highlands. Near Curepipe, you will discover a colonial mansion built in 1872, made of ebony and rosin listed in the Vieilles Maisons Françaises. The interior decoration includes furniture from the East India Company but also portraits and period documents that trace the life of the former owners. In addition, a visit of the old stables will be proposed in the middle of a floral park and the garden of the Camphriers which contains endemic trees.
The visit then continues with Bois Darling and its tea factory. Indeed, listening to a guide you will learn the different stages of production, also deepened in the tea museum. After your visit, the panoramic chalet with views of the estate and the South of the island awaits you for a delicious tasting. Last but not least, Domaine de Saint Aubin unveils a colonial house from 1819 transformed today into a table d'hôte.
