Even if you imagine yourself spending a romantic and charming holiday here, Italy is a perfect place to celebrate Halloween, especially in beautiful Venice and the medieval town of Corinaldo.

When you think of Venice you imagine the romantic city with its canals, St. Mark's Square full of pigeons and its unmissable carnival, yet it is also a perfect destination to celebrate Halloween. Beyond its image of a charming city, it has a sinister atmosphere with a past full of extraordinary legends about sea monsters of all kinds. There are many places full of mystery in the city, visit the San Michele cemetery and the mysteriously empty tomb of Sister Gisella Vittoria Gregoris or the cursed Ca' Dario palace which has aroused the admiration of Woody Allen and Claude Monet.

You can also visit the medieval town of Corinaldo, south of San Marino, a few hours drive from Florence, which hosts a special event during this period, the "Witches' Festival". During this period Corinaldo celebrates the witches of which the inhabitants are said to be descendants, so during the last 4 days of October they celebrate in their honour.

Catalonia is known to be a very festive region with an enchanting culture, and inevitably they celebrate Halloween in great style. Here you will not celebrate Halloween but the Castanyada! Families get together and enjoy small pastries, roasted chestnuts with sweet wine. But don't panic if you want to scare yourself, Barcelona is a perfect place to spend an evening of terror, especially when you dine at the restaurant La Posada Maldita, where the staff have fun scaring the customers in an atmosphere straight out of hell. Romania

Romania

Romania is undoubtedly the best country in Eastern Europe to celebrate Halloween, especially the beautiful region of Transylvania, the cradle of many scary stories. 
Indeed, the region is known to be home to the Bran Castle, by Vlad Tepes, otherwise known as Dracula, which you can visit if you have the courage. The tourist village at the foot of the castle will give you garlic cloves if you want to protect yourself from vampires at night. On the evening of the 31st of October, you can take part in a real masked ball in the castle.
Every year, the region also hosts a Halloween festival in the medieval town of Sighisoara, full of legends, where you can enjoy terrifying shows, mixed with folklore and the tasting of traditional Romanian cuisine. The festival is held in the middle of the Romanian forest at the foot of a magnificent citadel, where it is said that every year the tales haunted by the forest come back to life at this time.
And for even more thrills, you can venture into the famous Hoia-Baciu forest, where it is not uncommon to see ghosts, UFOs and other inexplicable events.

So to frighten you, set off to discover the Catacombs of Paris, where 6 million Parisians have been unearthed from the cemeteries to be buried in the catacombs, just a few metres below the surface. Indeed, it dates back to the 18th century, when the mass graves were full and there was a risk that the health of the living Parisians would be affected, so the bodies were moved to this place, offering a mystical and astonishing atmosphere.
If this is not enough for you, you can take part in the famous Vampire Ball at the Pachamama in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, to experience a real night of excess!
