Markets Galore

Bali is full of markets ranging with lots of different bargains to pick up from art to jewellery, masks to dyed fabrics, there really is something to amaze everyone.

> Ubud Art Market: open daily from 08:00 - 18:00, you can find lots of beautiful scarves made of silk, light shirts as well as statues, kites and plenty of other hand-crafted gifts. Prices vary depending on your bargaining skills so be prepared to negotiate to save yourself some money.

> Badung Market: open daily from 06:00 - 24:00 this market never sleeps as it is the main source of fresh produce for the local people. Be amazed by the colours at each stall filled with fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers.

> Kedonganan Fish Market: open from the break of dawn is Bali’s main seaside marketplace where fishing boats dock daily and sell their catches to the public. For a small fee you can even have your fish grilled there and then.

Shopping Streets

There are several streets in Bali that are famous for their shopping experience, be sure to check them out when you visit.

> Monkey Forest Road: this route passes the famous sacred sanctuary home for grey long-tailed macaques where monkeys swing through the canopies all day long. The road starts from Jalan Hanoman and makes its way to Ubud’s main town centre. Rows of shops, outlets, and boutiques line either side of the street with many restaurants and small spas in between.

> Kuta Square: a popular shopping arcade in the area of Kuta, approximately 50m from the beach. Here you will find a big department store, which houses a hypermarket and plenty of fashion stores, franchise restaurants, surf shops and fresh juice parlours. You will find lots of designer brands here such as Armani and Gucci, but also many local quality brands including Body & Soul and Animale.

> Tegallalang Handicrafts: famous for arts and crafts this area is just several kilometres North of Ubud. Home to the longest row of art shops in the world, this is certainly one of the most colourful routes in Bali. Here you will find unique items in all shapes and sizes ranging from furniture, interior ornaments, accessories and jewellery.
