Les Portes-en-Ré invites you to rediscover the joys of the outdoors at your own rhythm. Whether it’s cycling through the salt marshes, horseback riding along forest trails, or strolling through the coastal village of Trousse-Chemise – famously sung about by Charles Aznavour – every experience here is about slowing down and soaking in the atmosphere. Enjoy the sunset at Petit Bec beach, a quiet round of golf, or fresh oysters at a local cabane while the Atlantic breeze sweeps in.
A little further south, Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré offers a lively yet relaxed atmosphere, known for its expansive beaches and one of the island’s best daily markets. This charming village blends the art of living by the sea with a taste for simplicity and authenticity, whether you're enjoying a bike ride through the vineyards or an afternoon on the sand dunes.
The local lifestyle is simple and refined. Guests return year after year for the fresh seafood, the charm of the daily market, and the many beachside restaurants like La Cabane de la Patache and La Cabane des 3 Cailloux. From surfing lessons to leisurely bike rides, every day brings a new way to enjoy this unique part of the Île de Ré.
We loved Les Huîtres De Trousse Chemise, a seafood farm, the restaurant La Cabane des 3 Cailloux in Portes en Re, and playing tennis.
We love Portes en Re and have stayed there many times.
Love the local market, Trousse Chemise beach and Cabane De La Patache restaurant located on the beach La Patache
The chef Jean Marie Montelus, surf lessons at Surf'in Ré, and biking with Beach Bikes were a ton of fun.
We really like La Cabane de la Patache restaurant on the Patache beach, and the walks around the salt marshes.
Bikes are the best way to get around, great cycle routes all over the Island. Electric bikes are the way to go.
Walking distance to a lovely beach.
Golf was fun.
La Poisson is a lovely fish shop/restaurant in Porte De Re, doesn’t take bookings but will fit you in. Great for lunch.
